KV Anand after decent “Veeduokkade” & the super hit “Rangam”. KV Anand is pulling out almost a hat trick to make Suriya’s “Brothers” a blockbuster hit. Brothers is said to fall into the action-thriller genre and has been promoting it using the tagline ‘Sometimes the end is just the beginning.’ Kajal Agarwal is pairing opposite with Suriya in this action entertainer that is filmed on conjoined twins Akhil and Vimal, fans of Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh babuHarris Jayaraj music received positive response from the audience similar to the Tamil Maattrraan.
Vimal and Akhil (Suriya) are Conjoined twins born to Sachin Khedekar – Tara. Sachin Khedekar is a founder and the owner of a company Energion, the best kids energy drink in the market. Sachin’s rival sends a Russian spy to the company to know the secret formula of the drink. The spy manages to get some info with the help of Kajal and Surya, but she gets killed.
Who killed Russian spy? Will they try to kill (Surya)^2 & Kajal for helping her?? And what’s the secret behind this mystery murder? Forms rest of the storyline.
It’s Suriya show all the way as conjoined twins. He has shown proficient difference in terms of body language, Outfits, between the Vimal & Akhil. Akhil entertains masses, where Vimal aims at the class audience. His mannerisms in the second are too good. Kajal Agarwal is good as the playful girl. Isha Sharvani is wasted in “Neeve Neevelae”. Sachin Khedekar justified his character as scientist & father of conjoined Twins. National Award winning actress Tara is fine in her limited role.
KV Anand must be appreciated for his sensible efforts. His taking is too good in some scenes. But Brothers misses the engaging Script and Thrilling narration that could lock the audience till the end.
Music of the film is alright with nice picturization of songs. BGM is adequate.Cinematography by S. Sounder Rajan is excellent. The Ukraine episode and the interval fight scene show the brilliance of the cinematographer. The locations (Esp. Croatia, Serbia, Albania, Macedonia and Russia) are very good. Dialogues should have been better. Editing is alright. Brothers the first Indian film to use performance capturetechnology & it’s worked onscreen. Graphics and VFX are fine. Fights in this film are very well conceived.
The movie starts with okay entertainment. Then the movie’s tempo goes down till the Russian spy enters. From then, the movie is interesting till the interval. The second half is predictable and slow. Ukraine episode is fine. But the important climax didn’t fit the bill.
There is an underlying honesty about the storyline for sure, but even then it strikes you with a shaky script and predictable narrative style. Now if you think all these fit your concept of entertainment, well, give this one a try.
Brothers has some nice moments of course, but you need to have patience while waiting for them to happen…
